Posisi Devisa Neto (PDN)

PDN (Posisi Devisa Neto) = NOP (Net Open Position) selisih bersih antara vaktiva dan passiva dalam neraca (on balance sheet) untuk setiap valuta asing, ditambah dengan selisih bersih tagihan dan kewajiban, baik yang merupakan komitmen maupun kontinjen dalam rekening administratif untuk setiap valuta asing, yang semuanya dinyatakan dalam rupiah.

Jenis-jenis Posisi Devisa Neto (PDN):

1. Posisi Long : dimana jumlah aset bank dalam valas lebih besar dari pasiva bank dalam valas setelah memperhitungkan rekening administrasi bank.
2. Posisi Short : dimana jumlah aset bank dalam valas lebih kecil dari pasiva bank dalam valas setelah memperhitungkan rekening administrasi bank.
3. Posisi Square : dimana jumlah aset bank dalam valas sama dengan  dari pasiva bank dalam valas setelah memperhitungkan rekening administrasi bank.

Latar Belakang ditetapkannya PDN :

1. membatasi transaksi spekulasi bank devisa 
2. menghindari resiko kurs
3. manajemen forex bank
4. agar terjadi keseimbangan antara sumber dana dan penggunaan dana
5. memberikan fleksibilitas kepada perbankan dalam pengelolaan dananya, dengan tetap menjaga kesehatan dan daya tahan usahanya.

Attainable set dari Potofolio

Investor dapat memilih kombinasi dari aktiva-aktiva untuk membentuk portofolionya. Attainable set merupakan seluruh set yang memberikan kemungkinan portofolio yang dapat dibentuk dari kombinasi n-aktiva yang tersedia. Berdasarkan model Markowitz, investor dapat mengevaluasi return ekspektasi dan risiko portofolio dengan mengukur standar deviasi.

Portofolio Efisien

Portofolio efisien adalah portofolio yang memberikan return ekspektasi terbesar dengan tingkat risiko yang sudah pasti atau portofolio yang mengandung risiko yang kecil dengan tingkat return ekspektasi yang sudah pasti. Portofolio yang efisien ini dapat ditentukan dengan memilih tingkat return ekspektasi tertentu dan kemudian meminimumkan risikonya atau menentukan tingkat risiko yang tertentu dan kemudian memaksimalkan return ekspektasinya.

Efficient Set atau Efficient Frontier

Investor yang rasional tentu hanya tertarik dengan portofolio yang efisien. Kumpulan (set) portofolio efisien yang dihasilkan model Markowitz disebut dengan efficient set. Sedangkan efficient frontier merupakan trade-off antara return ekspektasi dan risiko yang menunjukkan portofolio efisien dari sekumpulan sekuritas.
